Dear Patients and Families,
The COVID-19 crisis has been a contradiction for local medical offices – lots of concern about people becoming sick, yet a major decrease in pediatric office visits. As a result, local practices have been drastically altering their staffing patterns and the way they do business. Sadly, we at Westwood-Mansfield Pediatrics are not exempt from this trend.
Yesterday, the partners and management team at Westwood-Mansfield Pediatrics made the difficult decision to temporarily close down the Westwood and Easton Offices and keep only the Mansfield Office open for seeing patients effective today. Most of our providers will be working very reduced hours during this period.
Patients typically seen in the Westwood or Easton office will be seen in the Mansfield Office (in the unlikely event that they need to be seen in-office at all).
There is no change with regard to which patients should be seen in the office. Only newborns and check-ups for babies (up to 15 months of age) should have an in-person check-up. All other check-ups and behavioral health checks should be completed via telehealth. Very limited sick visits may be appropriate as well.
Our office will be reaching out to re-schedule and confirm any upcoming visits in the very near future.
We apologize for all of these changes and appreciate your goodwill!
In addition, starting today, we will be cutting back on our nighttime nurse triage service. All phone calls between 11:00 pm and 8:30 am will be answered by either Dr. Halle, Dr. Hyde, Dr. Liebman or Dr. Strauss. We ask for your help and for you to be judicious with any phone calls overnight – please consider reviewing our website or waiting until normal business hours if possible. Of course, if you are unable to find the answer or are not comfortable waiting you should absolutely call!
We hope that this situation resolves quickly, that we as a community get through this first COVID-19 wave, and that we are able to be back to normal quickly. These are extreme times.
All of us at Westwood-Mansfield Pediatric Associates
PS: All is not bad news! We have been increasing the number of telehealth visits we do each day. It is nice to see all our patients in their home environments! Please consider making a telehealth visit today as these appointments help create enough patient visits to enable our providers and staff to return to pre-COVID schedules.
