Referrals

There may come a time when you or one of our providers feels that a referral to a specialist is in order.  We have a wide-ranging network of specialists, both at the Boston academic medical centers (Children's Hospital, Mass General Hospital for Children, Floating Hospital) and locally. We will base our referrals on who we think will best serve you and your child, and will certainly take your preferences into consideration.

Please be advised that whether the health care provider, nursing staff, or the patient makes the appointment with the specialist, it is the patient's responsibility to call our referral line in a timely manner.  You may also choose to e-mail (please note: even secure e-mail may not be completely secure).  When requesting a referral, please provide the following information:

  • patient's first and last name (with spelling), date of birth, telephone number
  • specialist's first and last name, telephone number, and location of visit
  • diagnosis (or reason) for visit, date, and time of appointment
  • name of referring physician or nurse practitioner
  • patient's insurance information.

To request a referral, please call (781) 326-7700 (Westwood) or (508) 339-9944 (Mansfield) and follow the prompt.  You may also e-mail us at: wespedref@conversent.net.

There are many services we provide including those in the fields of dermatology (wart treatment, acne), adolescent gynecology, behavioral medicine (ADHD, learning disorders, autism), and others.  If you are uncertain whether or not a referral is indicated, please do not hesitate to speak with one of our nurses or health care providers.
