Dr. Lester Hartman

Dr. Hartman joined Westwood-Mansfield Pediatrics in 1986 and is the senior physician currently with the group. After growing up in New Orleans, Dr. Hartman attended college at St. Louis University and medical school at Louisiana State University. He completed his pediatric training at Boston Children's Hospital and Boston City Hospital.

Dr. Hartman is very active in human rights, and characterizes himself as a "suburban human rights activist." He has been integrally involved with Physicians for Human Rights and landmine banning campaigns, lobbying in Washington DC, and travelling to Cambodia in support of a teenage landmine victim and the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (Nobel Peace Prize winning organization).

He personally travels yearly to Juampas, Haiti, as the lead medical consultant for the Mt. Carroll Clinic, where he has developed a vaccination program. For more information click here.

Locally, he has been the Pediatric Physician Organization at Children's Quality Improvement (QI) Chair and presently is the Senior QI consultant. His interests are in asthma, ADHD, autism, developmental and genetic disorders, and well child care.

Dr. Hartman's outside interests shell and rock collecting (he keeps a small museum in the Westwood office!), and photography. He serves on the Mission Committee at his church, and was on the Vestry for 3 years.

He lives with his wife, 2 daughters and his nephew. They also have a dog named Teddy.
