Say Hello To Our New Providers!

We are pleased and excited to introduce two new physicians to our practice, Dr. Helen Lyon and Dr. Erin Kish.  Dr. Lyon will be starting on August 3rd and Dr. Kish will start seeing patients in October.  Please join us in welcoming them to our group.

We would also like to offer a delayed welcome to Christina Simington who began working at Westwood-Mansfield Pediatrics back in April.

Lets meet the new docs…

Helen Lyon hails from Cape Cod where she graduated from Bourne High School.  Following her four happy years at Mount Holyoke College studying biology, she attended University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA (with our own Jonathan Starr!). She co-founded an immersion program for medical students, through which she traveled to Costa Rica to learn Spanish. In addition, Dr. Lyon volunteered in homeless shelters and directed a program to teach high school students about HIV, working alongside Dr. Starr during some of those volunteer efforts!

Dr. Lyon completed her pediatric residency at Maine Medical Center after which she spent a year working as a primary care pediatrician in Brunswick, Maine.  She returned to Massachusetts for a fellowship in Clinical Genetics at the Harvard Medical School, and earned a MS in molecular epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health. Her research included the genetics of asthma and obesity.

After obtaining her degree, Dr. Lyon worked as an Attending Physician in the Department of Genetics at Children’s Hospital before returning to primary care pediatrics six years ago (working at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, MVPediatrics in Quincy and Wareham Pediatrics).  While at Wareham Pediatrics, she recently collaborated with the Obesity Prevention and Treatment Center of Boston Children’s Hospital in a trial of telemedicine in obesity treatment. Dr. Lyon is board certified in Pediatrics and is currently studying for recertification in Clinical Genetic. Her interests include inherited components of common disease, genetic syndromes, and obesity prevention and treatment.

She and her husband live in Hanson with two great mutt dogs. Dr. Lyon has three step-children in college and beyond. Most of her family moved to Vermont twenty years ago, so she has learned to enjoy skiing, hiking, rock-climbing, cycling and sailing.

Dr. Lyon will be working in the Westwood Office on Mondays and the Mansfield Office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. She is excited to be joining the Westwood-Mansfield Pediatric team!

Erin Kish graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1997 and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. She completed her pediatric residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and her fellowship training in adolescent medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Kish and her husband moved to Boston in 2009 and she worked in college health for the next six years. In addition to general pediatrics, her clinical interests include adolescent health, eating disorders, behavioral health and developmental pediatrics. She enjoys helping adolescents and their families navigate the transition to young adulthood.

She lives in Medfield with her husband and her three young children. Dr. Kish enjoys exploring the myriad outdoor activities New England has to offer and loves all college sports, especially football.

Dr. Kish will be working in the Mansfield Office on Mondays and the Westwood Office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  In addition to seeing routine pediatric visits, she will also be available as an Adolescent Specialist for consult visits.

Have a happy and healthy end of summer!
